GRAYSON POPULATION APPEARS UNCHANGED FOR 10 YEARS
In a recently released census study, the US Census Bureau has estimated that Grayson's population is 2 less people than the town had in 2000. It appears that even though it seems there are many more people in Grayson these days, the majority of growth has taken place right outside Grayson borders in new subdivisions that offer city services and conveniences, without property tax support to the city.
Overall, Grayson has faired well compared to sister city Olive Hill which shows a current population estimate at 1764, 49 fewer people than in 2000 and Carter County as a whole has lost approximately 118 people compared to a 2000 population of 26,889. This is preliminary information. Firm details are expected to be released in mid-2011 on the exact count of populations from the 2010 census.
