I would like to thank the department of tourism
for being so gracious as to have the art gallery in the old fire station. The local artist will have an outlet to display
and sell their artwork. Grayson is the perfect location to have an art gallery because of the interstate, AA Highway, and
the tourist going out to the lake for camping, golfing, boating, or fishing.
MiAppa is an organization that helps
artist, and they have started art centers in Portsmouth, OH and also in Huntington, WV. I would like to see the artist of
eastern Kentucky become a part of the art movement and participate in the Art Gallery and draw the tourist dollars to eastern
Kentucky just like MiAppa is doing in the above-mentioned areas.
The college is also helping in the area of the
arts. I was thrilled to find out that Kentucky Christian University is offering classes in the fall in the area of Photoshop,
watercolor, and cartooning. In the past they had classes on drawing and acrylic painting. Our town is growing beyond what
I had thought possible and I am pleased to be a part of this.
Thanks again to the Department of Tourism for helping
artist of eastern Kentucky. May Grayson continue to grow and be a leader in drawing tourist dollars to our beautiful state.
